Good morning!!
My companion is Elder Empey. He is great. It's crazy because he grew up outside of Tri-Cities, Washington which has maybe 1000 people. He grew up on a farm and loves riding tractors and snowmobiling. That is kinda totally opposite of me. Since I grew up within about 15 million people in a 1-2 hour driving distance. But we are really similar. We both hate lines in our dining facility and and independent thinkers and just awesome all around. :) But ya, we are becoming attached at the hip. It is pretty exciting. I have never had the opportunity to spend this much time with one person before!
It is a great day at the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC) today. I have really loved it here. Everyday has been a really packed day so far. We have gone from one thing to the other. For those of you who know me, you would know that I'm not necessarily the most organized and prepared person so it wouldn't surprise you to know that I barely slept at all on Tuesday night before I left to the airport! Soooo I was RIDICULOUSLY exhausted the entire day. I fell asleep instantly upon takeoff. I felt a lot better after but wanted to take a nap immediately when I got to the MTC at 11am. Ironically, that has REALLY helped my adjustment to the time zone and schedule. I have been asleep by 11pm and up just after 6am both of these two days. I actually feel refreshed too!

In my classes, there are 6 of us Elder Missionaries. That makes up our District and it is already great! Wow. I can't believe we've known each other for less than 48 hours! I didn't realize how well you can get to know people when you literally are with each other the entire day doing the same things! And all 6 of us have the exact same schedule. Elder Sell was called to be our District Leader (the one who makes sure we are on the ball doing the right things). It was pretty hilarious because before we had one of us 6 chosen, he told us that if he was ever called he would authorize exchanges all over the place! For example, today at breakfast 2 of us wanted fruit in the other part of the building but were not companions so he immediately authorized an exchange for us to do that. That may sound completely ridiculous to you that we have to go 2 by 2 to get fruit in the dining commons, but it's actually pretty awesome. Haha.
Lastly, the Spirit has been amazing. I can't believe how much you can learn and grow when you are so focused on doing that one thing. We were reading some scripture (Mosiah 1) out of the Book of Mormon yesterday and were amazed how much inspiration and knowledge from God we were able to get out of those 2 pages. And we started receiving revelation with what to do and focus on in our life in a matter of minutes. WOW! So humbling to read from the word of God and learn! Also, we have slowly figured out how to start praying during the day. We pray when we wake up and before we go to breakfast and when we sit down to eat breakfast and before personal study and before companion study and before class and at the end of class and before the next class and before gym and before we go to bed and more. It is really exciting to do our best to develop a REAL relationship with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. So amazing.
One last thing I want to share is what our Branch President said (he is the person who presides over our zone which is 4 districts of 6-10 missionaries each. The 'Presidency' is him, his two counselors and each of their respective wife. Hopefully that kinda makes sense. We met those 6 people last night.). We dug into scriptures in the Pearl of Great Price and learned about the creation and pre-existence and whatnot. In there, God tells Abraham how there are many noble and great ones that were chosen from the beginning to be leaders in God's church and Abraham was one of them. He testified that we, us missionaries, were among the noble and great ones that were chosen too. Wow. Humbling to be personally selected by God to bring to pass His will.
I know that this place is where I am supposed to be and I am SOOOO blessed to be here. I love it so much. I hope each of you are doing great!
Elder Jeffrey Campbell :)
